Sakura Tray

Sakura Tray

$99.00

How many times have you set your heirloom candlesticks or menorah down on a piece of junk mail or foil to protect your furniture from burning wax? I’ve always wished there was something just as special to use instead. When I couldn’t find one, I set out to have one made!

In this collaboration, we’ve reproduced a tray in a design that has come to be synonymous with San Francisco-based artist Tina Frey. While they look and feel like a ceramic piece, the trays are handmade and cast in resin and hand-shaped initially in clay by Tina Frey herself. The custom color brings to mind the shade of sakura or cherry blossom blooming, making our walks and commutes more beautiful for just a fleeting week in the spring.

MATERIALS: Resin

SIZE: 10.5" x 6.5" x 0.75"

CARE: Resin can sometimes become frosty after washing. If this occurs, rub a pea-sized drop of vegetable oil onto the surface with a soft cloth to restore its luster. The frosty appearance can also be left alone as this can be preferred. It does not affect the quality and usage of the item. To clean up marks left behind from candle ash, use a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser or a green Scotchbright pad. Buffing gently with a 200 grit sand paper also works. Please avoid use of sharp objects or knives on the resin surface. Although resin is shatter resistant (and safe for outdoor use), it can break if dropped on the ground. Dishwasher safe. Not for use in the microwave or with high heat.

MEET THE MAKER

Tina Frey creates modern household designs in resin. Each item is hand-sculpted in clay by Tina in her San Francisco studio, then cast in small batches. The fluid lines of her silhouettes are reminiscent of the blue sea, while the organic contours of each piece emulate the curves of nature.
